Our Deathscribe goes to Zombieland

In case you haven't heard, we're very excited that our very own Killer-works editor, Jude W. Mire, is one of the five finalists for WildClaw Theatre's DEATHSCRIBE 09 Competition! The five scripts will be performed on stage with voice actors, foley artists, and musical accompaniment at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago this coming Monday night, October 5th. Each ten minute horror play is directed by different local theatre directors and will be voted on by a panel of judges. The winner (and our collective fingers are crossed for Jude!) gets the DEATHSCRIBE Bloody Axe!
As part of the fund-raising for DEATHSCRIBE, WildClaw put on their Zombie Bowling event: Dawn of the Dude a couple of weeks ago. Jude and I
attended, covered in fake blood, and bowled our way into free
tickets to see Zombieland! (Jude's rave review on Zombieland coming
ASAP!) And as a bonus to all who attended Zombie Bowling WildClaw
partnered with some folks from Zombieland promotions and gave an
open call for
Red Carpet Zombies at the Chicago premier on October 25th.
Check out Jude in his "skateboard zombie" attire cavorting in the
zombie pit outside of the AMC Theatre in Chicago. Woody Harrelson
and Jesse Eisenberg popped by just before the movie started and gave
a brief intro to the film and got the theatre full of zombies riled
up. Woody apologized for what was about to happen to all the
on-screen zombies!

There's something surreal about sitting in a dark movie theatre surrounded
by hundreds of zombi-fied folks and watching the cinematic, bloody
desecration of hordes of zombies! So if you have a chance to see Zombieland with other zombies, do it!
Zombieland opens everywhere on Friday and DEATHSCRIBE 09 happens one night only in Chicago on Monday. October is definitely shaping up to be a banner horror month!
