AAAAAH!! Indie Horror Hits v1

At
long last! I've been waiting for a whole year to finally get my
hands on the freshly minted Volume One of
AAAAAH!! Indie Horror
Hits from creator Miguel Gallego. Just
in time for the holidays, warm and blood-drippy entertainment for the whole disturbed
family; a DVD compilation of independent short horror films!
In this first collection of seven films from Canada and the USA AAAAAH!! Indie Horror Hits vary in length from three minutes to a robust thirty-two minutes and vary in theme from funny one liner (Ghost Busted), to shocking video diary (Ninth Entry), to atmospheric Cthulhu (The Veil). Miguel's very own award winning The Crypt Club kicks off the set with three young girls testing their mettle at the graveyard of famous a murderess. My Skin! has very slick production value and thrills with an intriguing story where Death turns tables on a murderer! Oculus will have you guessing what lies behind the other side of a cursed mirror.
One notable entry is the apocalyptic, suburban gore piece by Kevin Greutert called, Old Friends. Greutert is the editor of the SAW film franchise, and Old Friends is the short film that convinced producers to let him direct SAW VI (due out some time in 2009). Old Friends has a family hiding out in their suburban home with stockpiles of food and clandestine forays into the bird-virus wasteland to siphon gas for their generator. Trouble (and a great electrocution scene!) occurs when old friends come calling with nasty pillaging on their minds.

We've been following the journey of the DVD's master-mind, Miguel Gallego, since he regaled us with sneak previews of some of the submissions in 2007. Miguel's concept developed over the course of co-mingling with hundreds of other film makers in the festival circuit: Create a permanent product for the best short horror indie films to be showcased after they've conquered the film festivals.
Of course, nothing involving film (making or distributing) is as simple as you expect. Creating a high quality DVD of short films from diverse film makers (of varying industry experience) from all over the world is fraught with paperwork, legal-eze, and egos! But the juicy fruits of Miguel's labours bring us the unique experience of the largely inaccessible (until now) world of independent horror gems.
Miguel continues to accumulate dark and disturbing short films from all over the world. If you have a short, horrific film that deserves a captive audience head on over to the AAAAAH Films website and enter a submission!
Yours in short cinematic gore, Jill
